A Hidden Key to Recovery
Millions of people worldwide live with chronic symptoms and conditions that traditional medical approaches struggle to fully explain or resolve – chronic pain, fatigue, headaches, migraines, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, long COVID, anxiety, and more. If you’re one of these people, then you know how discouraging it can be to keep searching for solutions, only to be left with the belief that, “You’ll just have to live with it.”
These symptoms can stretch on for months or years, leaving you drained, anxious, and stuck in a cycle of appointments, tests, and treatments that never seem to bring lasting relief.
The breakthrough is this: emerging neuroscience reveals that many chronic symptoms and conditions are neuroplastic. In other words, they’re not caused by permanent damage or disease, but by the way the brain and nervous system have learned to process signals of stress, pain, and perceived danger.
That means recovery is not only possible, it’s achievable.
Your body already knows the path to recovery. It just needs the right
guidance to remember.
Feeling Stuck
in an Endless Cycle
Living with chronic symptoms often means repeating your story to provider
after provider, without feeling truly understood.
Many treatments only address parts of the problem, offering short-term or partial relief.
You may have felt hopeful trying new approaches, only to end up back in the same place.
You know your body better than anyone, but finding someone who believes you, who listens, and who truly understands what it’s like to live with chronic symptoms
has felt impossible.
I Get It, I’ve Been There Too
For most of my adult life, I had occasional aches and pains that were manageable and didn’t interfere much with my life. Then a few years ago, I began experiencing chronic pain that persisted long after an acute injury should have healed. Soon, additional symptoms emerged: joint pain in my hands and feet, chronic hip pain, fatigue, weakness, full-body pain flares after minimal activity, sciatica, and increasingly severe headaches.
I did everything I was supposed to do. I rested. I modified my diet. I adjusted my activity levels. My symptoms continued to worsen. I pursued extensive testing and imaging to rule out autoimmune disease and other conditions. Every test came back normal—except for osteoarthritis in a couple of toe joints that couldn’t possibly explain the constellation of symptoms I was experiencing.
I went from being an active skier, hiker, and biker to struggling to walk two miles without pain. I felt dismissed, confused, and scared. Sound familiar?
Searching for answers, I began to look inward and discovered something surprising: the pain wasn’t random, it was protective. My brain and nervous system were trying to keep me safe. This realization led me to the science of neuroplastic symptoms, and to the approaches that finally made a difference: Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Emotional Awareness & Expression Therapy.
These approaches weren’t about coping or managing symptoms. They addressed the root cause—my brain’s faulty danger signaling. Through this work, I regained the energy, clarity, and freedom I thought I had lost for good.
If you’re ready for meaningful relief, you deserve guidance from someone who understands the science, has lived with these symptoms, and has experienced recovery firsthand.
The Science Behind
Your Recovery
Thankfully, emerging research shows us this: chronic symptoms aren’t happening because your body is broken. In most cases, they occur because your brain and nervous system, designed to protect you, have become stuck in “alarm mode,” sending danger signals long after the threat is gone.
Pain Reprocessing Therapy helps retrain your brain to recognize that the danger has passed and it’s safe to recover. Clinical research shows this approach is effective. In one study, 66% of participants with chronic back pain became either pain-free or nearly pain-free after working with Pain Reprocessing Therapy.
Emotional Awareness & Expression Therapy addresses the patterns that keep your nervous system on high alert. By safely expressing suppressed emotions, your brain learns to turn down the danger signals, allowing your body to relax into recovery.
Your unconscious brain, built to sustain your survival, created these symptoms to keep you safe. The same neuroplasticity that created them can be used to heal them.
The Missing Piece
Many well-intentioned treatments for chronic conditions focus on managing symptoms or seek to address damage in the body. When these approaches work, that’s great. But when they don’t, you’re left with the same symptoms, and often with even greater anxiety and fear about what could be wrong.
Many people with chronic symptoms spend years searching for answers, often experiencing:
Medications or procedures that never get to the root of the problem.
Strict diets or supplement plans without lasting relief.
Round after round of tests that come back “normal.”
Feeling dismissed, confused, or even blamed when symptoms don’t fit a clear medical explanation.
It’s not that these treatments are wrong, they’re just incomplete. What’s often missing is recognizing that the brain and nervous system can generate real, ongoing symptoms when they’re stuck in alarm mode.
What makes the real difference is addressing the brain’s faulty danger signaling. These protective patterns developed for good reasons, but over time they created symptoms that no longer serve you. By working directly with these neural pathways, we retrain the brain away from fear and back toward safety. As danger signaling eases, symptoms decrease, and lasting recovery becomes possible.
The Core Tenets of Naturopathic Medicine
The foundational principles of Naturopathic Medicine guide every aspect of how I approach your recovery and perfectly complement the neuroplastic recovery tools I work with.
Your body possesses an intelligent, ordered self-healing process. Rather than forcing healing with harsh interventions, we identify and remove obstacles that prevent your natural recovery. This aligns perfectly with neuroplastic healing, where we guide your nervous system toward its innate ability to return to balance.
Instead of suppressing symptoms, we seek to understand and address the underlying patterns creating your chronic symptoms such as pain and fatigue. When approaching neuroplastic symptoms, this means retraining the brain pathways that keep your nervous system stuck in protection mode.
We use gentle mind-body methods that minimize harmful side effects and work with your body's healing process rather than against it. Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Emotional Awareness Expression Therapy honor this principle by teaching your brain it's safe to turn off the pain signals.
You become empowered with knowledge about your symptoms and equipped with tools for your own recovery. Understanding why your nervous system creates chronic symptoms puts you back in control of your healing journey.
Your physical symptoms connect to mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your health, every aspect of who you are. Neuroplastic recovery addresses not just pain signals, but the emotional patterns and life experiences that keep those signals active.
We build your resilience against future symptom patterns by teaching your nervous system new, healthy responses. Once you understand how neuroplastic symptoms develop, you can prevent them from returning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this approach right for my specific condition?
Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Emotional Awareness Expression Therapy work well for neuroplastic conditions because for many people conditions such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, long-haul COVID, irritable bowel syndrome, tension headaches and more, are driven by faulty brain-pain signals which is why most other treatments haven’t provided lasting relief.
How do I know if my symptoms are neuroplastic?
Through a thorough review of your health history and symptom patterns, we’ll assess whether your condition is being driven by the brain’s pain-signaling system. If it is, we’ll move forward with retraining the brain patterns that are keeping your symptoms active.
Will this work even though my pain feels completely physical?
Yes. Neuroplastic pain is just as real as pain caused by injury or disease. The difference is that neuroplastic pain stems from the way the brain and nervous system process signals, not from damage or disease. This approach addresses the root cause, reducing pain signaling from the brain and allowing real, lasting relief.
How long does recovery typically take?
Recovery timelines vary, but many clients begin experiencing improvements within the first few sessions. Some people see dramatic changes quickly, while others have a more gradual recovery process. The key is consistency and understanding.
Do you accept insurance?
We don’t work directly with insurance companies. Sessions are fee-for-service, which allows us to focus entirely on your healing without insurance restrictions.
Can I do this if I live outside the United States?
Yes! All sessions are conducted virtually, so you can work with Dr. Charlotte from anywhere in the world with a reliable internet connection.
What if I've tried everything and I'm skeptical this will work?
Skepticism is completely understandable after trying multiple treatments without success. This approach is different because it addresses the source of neuroplastic symptoms rather than just managing them. I too was skeptical when presented with this approach, but once I started seeing results and experiencing the ability to be active and move my body again, I realized it truly does work.
